A secure, foldable drone that changes missions by changing cameras

The ACSL SOTEN is a 3.8 lb enterprise drone built in Japan for agencies and utilities that need an alternative to Chinese-made platforms. This Basic Bundle includes the aircraft, the 20 MP 1-inch standard camera, a smart battery, a charger, spare propellers and a hard case. A compatible ACSL controller is required and sold separately.

Supply-chain security

Built in Japan for security-sensitive programs

ACSL designs and builds SOTEN in Japan and states it is NDAA-compliant. The radio link and flight logs are protected with AES-256 encryption, photos and video can be encrypted on the SD card, and the security design follows ISO/IEC 15408 principles. Those are the controls public agencies and critical-infrastructure operators ask for.

One airframe, five camera options

The SOTEN camera mount takes the included 20 MP standard camera plus optional optical zoom, multispectral and two thermal (EO/IR) payloads. Swap cameras between flights with the aircraft powered off, and the same airframe moves from mapping to inspection to thermal search.

The standard camera in this bundle captures 20 MP stills on a 1-inch sensor with a mechanical shutter, so mapping frames stay free of rolling-shutter distortion. It records 4K/30fps video on a 3-axis gimbal that tilts from -115 to +45 degrees.

3.8 lb, folding arms, fitted hard case

At 1,720 g (3.8 lb) with camera and battery, SOTEN folds to 162 x 363 mm (6.4 x 14.3 in). The fitted hard case in this bundle carries the aircraft, camera, battery, charger and spare propellers to the job. IP43 protection handles light spray and dust, though ACSL does not recommend flying in rain.

Inspection, mapping and public safety

Vision obstacle sensing forward, up and down (10 m forward range), a 4 km (2.5 mi) control range, a 15 m/s (33.5 mph) top speed and an operating range of -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to 40°C) suit bridge, utility and industrial inspection, general mapping and incident overwatch.

Does the Basic Bundle include a controller?

No. You will need an ACSL TENSO or TAITEN smart controller, or the ACSL standard controller with an Android device running the TAKEOFF app. Call (210) 900-2018 and we will quote a complete bundle.

Is the SOTEN NDAA-compliant and made in Japan?

ACSL builds SOTEN in Japan and states that it is NDAA-compliant. It is not currently confirmed on the DIU Blue UAS list, so check with us if your program requires that listing.

Can I fly the SOTEN in the rain?

SOTEN is rated IP43, which covers light spray and dust. ACSL does not recommend flying in rain or strong wind.

What other cameras fit the SOTEN?

Optional payloads include an optical zoom camera, a multispectral camera and two thermal (EO/IR) cameras. Change cameras with the aircraft powered off.

Does it support LTE or BVLOS flight?

LTE is available on a separate SOTEN LTE model, not added to this aircraft. Beyond visual line of sight operations in the U.S. also require FAA approval.
