Storm-Protected Wind Turbines

In high winds, a turbine must protect itself. These models have verified built-in protection:
Automatic tilt-up (WindSafe and Heli series): the rotor tilts out of the wind at about 13–14 m/s (29–31 mph).
Electromagnetic brake: slows the rotor electrically.
40+ m/s survival rating: vertical-axis designs built to withstand storm gusts.
Buyer tip: Turbines not listed here depend on their charge controller’s brake and a manual stop switch. That is fine for sheltered sites, but in storm-prone areas choose built-in protection.
