Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the P1?

FJD rates the P1 at up to 2 cm relative accuracy, tested in experimental conditions. FJD does not publish an absolute accuracy figure for the P1; to tie scans to real-world coordinates, add the optional GNSS module or use surveyed control points.

Can I georeference P1 scans?

Yes, with the optional GNSS module. FJD rates RTK positioning at 8 mm + 1 ppm horizontal and 15 mm + 1 ppm vertical, and PPK is supported. RTK needs a correction source such as a CORS network or base. We confirm the GNSS setup with your quote.

What deliverables can I produce?

FJD lists contour maps, distance, area and volume calculations, floor plans, tree and forest analyses, and 3D models such as BIM, DEM and 3D mesh. The scanner exports .las, .pcd, .pts and .ply for FJD Trion Model or compatible third-party software. Software licensing is confirmed with your quote.

How long does processing take?

FJD states a scan-to-post-processing time ratio of about 3:1.

How long does the battery last?

About 2 hours per grip battery at room temperature with the scanner only. FJD designs the P1 for quick battery swaps so you can keep working through the day.

Should I choose the P1 or the P2?

The P2 is FJD's newer handheld: lighter (700 g), with built-in cameras for real-time color, 1 cm post-processed relative accuracy and .e57 export. The P1 suits teams that want a simple, proven SLAM scanner. We can quote both so you can compare.
