A charge controller sits between your solar panels or wind turbine and your batteries. It controls charging so the batteries are never overcharged.
Solar arrays use an MPPT solar controller. Wind turbines need a wind or hybrid controller with a dump load or brake, which slows the turbine once the batteries are full.
Buyer tip: Do not run a wind turbine through a solar-only MPPT controller. Nothing stops the turbine from overspeeding once the batteries are full.
